And before you do that, you should first learn and decide on what is your priority. By then, you will know what you really need in a fitness club. Here are some guidelines you can consider in choosing a fitness club that is best for you:</p>
<p>1. Where is it located?</p>
<p>The location is the first thing that you should consider when finding a fitness club. If the club is far from your home, you will just another excuse not to work out. It is best to find a facility that is near your home.</p>
<p>2. Are the employees friendly and nice? Will they be able to help you reach your goals?</p>
<p>Make sure that the instructor has the necessary experience to work with you. The instructor should be a certified professional that can work with you safely and effectively. Your instructor should also know if you have physical limitations or you may find an instructor that is well trained to work with you. You can also check the age of the instructor especially if it is one factor for your motivation and learning. The staff should also be helpful, friendly and professional. You can also ask the services they offer and find what is important for you. Some facilities have their own dietician and physical therapists that can offer services for you.</p>
<p>3. What kind of programs does it offer? </p>
<p>Find time to see what programs are there for you and check if they suit your interests. Do they offer group classes? Choose the facility that offers the classes you really like. You can do a trial class to check it out if you want.</p>
<p>4. Are the facilities and equipments good and will they be available anytime that is most convenient for you?</p>
<p>Check if the equipments are enough for all members. Otherwise, you will waste your time falling in line and waiting for your turn. Also make sure that the facility is open during the time you are most likely to do work outs and exercises.</p>
<p>5. Is the entire facility well maintained, clean and safe for you?</p>
<p>Machines and other training facilities should be in clean and in good order. If you see a lot of &#8220;out of order&#8221; signs, it could be something to think about. Modern equipments are safer and more comfortable to use, so you may also want to consider that. Are the floors cleaned regularly to avoid accidents? Is there enough room for everyone? Also check if the facility is located in a place away from danger, consider also if the location is well lit.</p>
<p>6. Are the members of the club friendly and can they be your friends?</p>

<p>New Brain for the New Year!</p>
<p>Brain Fitness Programs.</p>
<p>It is January 1, 2009, and today is the day you will be doing your New Year&#8217;s Resolutions, if you are done with the excesses of New Years&#8217;s Eve anyway.</p>
<p>Perhaps you have done resolutions before, generated a great deal of excitement anticipating all the neat changes you were going to manifest, like the new physique, the reduced debt, no more cigarettes, a return to school, and then you were disappointed about the slow drain of excitement, and the continuation of old habits you wanted to change.</p>
<p>How about beginning the change process in the brain, before worrying about the <a href="http://www.momsinsandiego.com/dietsolution" style=""  rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.momsinsandiego.com/dietsolution';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">diet</a> or the new text book?</p>
<p>Yes, change the brain first and the movement of the body will change too.</p>
<p>Perhaps you have been tangentially noticing all the publicity in the media about brain fitness, all the information being revealed by fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) which is giving scientists an opportunity to look at the brain in action in real time.</p>
<p>They are discovering some very interesting information, like our brains continue to grow new cells throughout the life span, which is called neurogenesis, and that the brain is a very plastic organ, constantly reorganizing itself based on how we use it, which is called neuroplasticity.</p>
<p>Those two discoveries alone overthrow decades if not centuries of neuroscientific dogma, much to the benefit of our New Year&#8217;s Resolutions.</p>
<p>However, we must maximize the brain&#8217;s ability to manifest neurogenesis and neuroplasticity, which means lay the groundwork.</p>
<p>As we do that groundwork, the brain is in a much better position to help us carry through on our resolutions.</p>
<p>(Remember that Mihalyi Csikszentmihalyi, author of Finding Flow, says that we perceive seven bits of sensory data every 1/18th second, so our brains are fast, and my brain will have me moving down a familiar path rapidly if I am not on top of my brain fitness game).</p>
<p>The researchers are discovering that our brains work best when we take care of our nutrition, stress management, physical exercise, and involve our brains in novel challenges, which is part of what I want to talk about today.</p>
<p>Researchers are finding very intriguing evidence that brain circuits or brain maps can be exercised, and when those circuits are exercised, the neurons in those circuits continue to fire together in close harmony, and dendritic growth continues to happen.</p>
<p>In other words, the neurons stay creative in the sense that they are growing connections to other neurons, and the more connections I have the better I am at making decisions which benefit the entire organism.</p>
<p>I will be able to bring more brain power to the resolutions I make.</p>
<p>There are any number of marketers leaping into the brain fitness marketplace with different brain fitness programs to take advantage of this market, which is being driven by aging Baby Boomers, so it is important to take a look at the product before you purchase or partake.</p>
<p>I think it is important to note that research is indicating that the words &#8220;novel challenge&#8217; referred to above do not include &#8220;brain games&#8221; but do include activities like learning a new instrument, or taking up a new career, or learning a new language.</p>
<p>For brain fitness to occur, one does not need to become an expert at a new, novel challenge. One does need to practice regularly.</p>
<p>There are a number of brain fitness programs available now that offer a novel challenge to our brains which can be part of our routine which mazimizes brain fitness.</p>
<p>I have tried four of them, and found them all, while different in approach, time committment, and expense, very useful.</p>
<p>One in particular has helped me to focus more effectively on a given task, like building a website page, better than at any time in my entire life. (People have been telling me for a long time that I resemble this ADD or that ADD friend).</p>
<p>Another has taught me that I have some improving to do in my auditory processing, which will maximize my ability to find the correct word at the correct time, very important in my counseling business.</p>
<p>Another has given me a way to take a quick break between clients or phone calls to refresh the neurotransmitters in my brain so I have a less cortisol and more DHEA, more vasopressin, and more oxytocin available on demand.</p>
<p>And another has taught me the value of certain musical note sequences in brain speed and processing.</p>
<p>So the basis for my keeping my New Year&#8217;s resolutions is taking care of my brain with novel challenge including computerized brain fitness programming, and learning chess to play with my son, taking care of stress reduction using HeartMath, lots of good smoothies for good brain nutrition (that is not all, of course), and lots of physical exercise,which can be as simple as walking more and longer.

<p>Golf fitness exercises for the junior golfer can be beneficial to the development of the golf swing in many ways. Learn what the best golf exercises are for the junior golfer. Learn how as a junior golfer can increase the accuracy, consistently, and power in their golf swing.</p>
<p>I receive many questions about the junior golfer and golf fitness programs. The questions are on a number of different topics, but they generally fall into three or four different categories. Typically the questions are; at what should a junior golfer begin utilizing golf fitness exercises, how often should a junior golfer implement golf fitness exercises, and finally what are the best golf fitness exercises for the junior golfer? Typically this last question is the most commonly asked question. This article is intended to provide some answers to the question; what are the best golf fitness exercises for the junior golfer?</p>
<p>First and foremost golf fitness exercises can be of great benefit to the junior golfer provided a few principles are adhered to in the development of such a golf fitness program. We are obviously aware certain exercises are beneficial to the golfer and others are not. Keep in mind regardless if you are a junior, professional, or senior the exercises within your golf fitness program should center upon developing the body around the golf swing.</p>
<p>This single principle indicates certain exercises are of greater benefit to the golfer than others. Generally speaking, the exercises should focus on developing your body to the positions, movements, and physical requirements of the golf swing. This equates to exercises developing the required flexibility, balance, endurance, strength, and power required of the golf swing. For example, we are fully aware the golf swing requires you to make a full shoulder turn. A portion of the ability to make a full shoulder turn is contingent upon the golfer&#8217;s flexibility (regardless of if you are a junior golfer or not). If you are lacking flexibility the ability to make a full shoulder turn, the golf swing will be compromised, and compensations may set into your golf swing. That being said, a portion of your golf fitness exercises, specifically your golf flexibility exercises will focus on developing a full and effortless shoulder turn.</p>
<p>The junior golfer is really no different than golfers of a different age when it comes to the basic principles of a golf fitness program. The goal of the golf fitness program is the same, and the physical components of the body to be developed are the same. The goal of the golf fitness program is to develop your body around the golf swing in order to create a more powerful, consistent, and accurate golf swing.</p>
<p>The difference for the junior golfer comes down to what are the best exercises within each of these categories. Typically the junior golfer is not as physically developed as an adult thus changing the exercise prescriptions that are best for them. Meaning, the categories to develop within the body for the golf swing are the same as the adult golfer, but modifications in certain exercises are required to counteract the physical development of the junior golfer.</p>
<p>Typically flexibility exercises for the junior golfer can be the exact same as for any other age golfer. Generally speaking, flexibility training is often much easier for the junior golfer to perform because muscles and connective tissues tend to be more flexible when we are young.</p>
<p>Progressing to balance exercises. Often the junior golfer is not as kinesthetically developed as an adult. Their bodies, control of the limbs, and knowing where the body is in space tends to be less developed at younger ages. For this reason we must modify some of the balance exercises to a lower level of difficulty. For example, a junior golfer may have difficulty performing an advanced airplane rotation found in my golf fitness book. As a result a modification may be required in the exercise. The adjustment could consist of keeping the junior golfer using the basic airplane rotation and adding more repetitions to increase the difficulty.</p>
<p>Another adjustment is usually required for the endurance, strength, and power exercises for the junior golfer. Golf fitness exercises found within these categories of training are geared towards increasing muscular strength, endurance, and power. In order to improve these components of the muscles in anyone (junior golfer included) we must overload the body with a higher workload than it is accustomed too. For example, if you were a bodybuilder and wanted get bigger biceps. You may choose to perform bicep dumbbells curls with a 50 lb. dumbbell. In the beginning this exercise may be very difficult to perform. The reason is the 50 lb. dumbbell is overloading your bicep. Over time the bicep gets stronger and the 50 lb. dumbbell gets easier to lift. This is an example of how to overload the muscles of your body to get stronger.</p>
<p>Many of these exercises to develop increased strength, endurance, and power can require the use of external resistance: In the form of dumbbells, elastic tubing, medicine balls, etc. The mistake with junior golfers is externally loading these exercises too much. For example, using to heavy of dumbbells for a certain exercises. The result is a compromise in form and loss of benefit from the exercise. For this reason, I have found it best for the junior golfer to use their body weight as resistance first. Then slowly progress to adding external resistance in the form of tubing, medicine balls, etc&#8230;</p>
<p>This format allows the junior golfer to progress in the development of their bodies for the golf swing properly. It allows them to focus on exercise technique and execution rather than the amount of weight lifted.</p>
<p>To recap, modifications for the junior golfer in terms of their golf fitness program is required. It is a simple process if they are not overloaded with resistance or difficulty of exercise. The goal for the junior golfer is the same as any other golfer; develop the body around the golf swing. The physical components to be developed by a golf fitness program are again the same; flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power. The difference for the junior golfer lies within the implementation of the golf exercises within these categories in the golf fitness program.</p>
